Jacques Henri Lartigue was a French photographer and painter, born in Courbois, a suburb of Paris, on June 13, 1894, and died in Nice on September 12, 1986. He is known for his depictions of the joys and playfulness of upper-class French life in the early 20th century. Lartigue was interested in photography from a young age, taking his first photographs with his father's camera at the age of seven.
Lartigue captured the joys and fun of everyday life, the pastimes and hobbies of his family and friends. His photographs are full of movement, dynamism, and energy.
